Accessibility Statement

Accessibility is not a feature we added to MatterArc. It is the discipline the platform was built around. MatterArc helps organizations develop training that meets Section 508 requirements, and we hold our own product and websites to the standards we help our customers meet.

This statement describes the standards we target, how we test against them, and how to reach us if you encounter a barrier.

MatterArc targets conformance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These standards guide the design, development, and review of both the MatterArc platform and our public websites.

Where organizations operate under additional accessibility requirements, such as state or agency policies, MatterArc deployments can be configured around those requirements as part of the organization’s workspace.

Every member of the MatterArc team is a certified DHS Trusted Tester. The Trusted Tester certification, issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, qualifies its holders to evaluate digital content for Section 508 conformance using the federal government’s standardized test methodology.

Accessibility review at MatterArc is not a separate compliance stage or an outside audit at the end of a release. The people who design and build the platform are certified to test it, and conformance is evaluated throughout development using the same process federal agencies use.

Our review practice combines the federal test process with continuous checks during development:

• Trusted Tester process. Conformance evaluation follows the DHS Trusted Tester methodology, the same standardized process federal agencies use to assess Section 508 conformance.
• Keyboard operation. Interfaces are designed and tested for full keyboard operability. Tab always moves focus and is never repurposed, and interactive patterns follow predictable, consistent conventions.
• Assistive technology. Features are reviewed with screen readers and other assistive technologies during development.
• Visual review. Color contrast, focus visibility, text sizing, and reading order are checked as part of design review, not after it.
• Automated and manual checks. Automated tooling supports, but does not replace, manual review by certified testers.

Accessibility works in two directions in MatterArc. The platform itself is built and tested for conformance, and the platform helps your team produce accessible training: the Accessibility Dashboard makes Section 508 review visible across a course, flags issues such as missing alternative text, and supports remediation without leaving the development workflow.
